Circuit Breaker Timing Analyzers
Measure circuit breaker timing, contact synchronism, and mechanical movement. Atlas Energy supplies the HVEX 12-channel circuit breaker analyzer for factory testing, commissioning, and maintenance. The portable system records opening and closing performance to help identify delayed operation, differences between poles, and mechanical irregularities in vacuum, SF6, and minimum-oil circuit breakers.
Timing and contact analysis
Simultaneous measurement of up to 12 metallic contacts: six main and six auxiliary contacts.
Opening and closing times, differences between phases, and contact bounce timing.
Phase-difference range: 0.1–99 ms, with 0.01 ms resolution.
Internal-trigger timing range: 0.1 ms to 200 s; resolution depends on the selected range.
Published timing accuracy within 1,000 ms: 0.05% ±0.1 ms.
Maximum signal acquisition time: 200 s.
Mechanical and coil measurements
Compatible displacement sensors allow analysis of contact travel, overtravel, rebound, and opening or closing speed. Linear, rotary, universal, and laser sensor options are described by HVEX; select the sensor and mounting arrangement for the breaker mechanism.
Documented 50 mm linear sensor: 0–50 mm travel, 0.1 mm resolution.
Coil current measurement: up to 20 A, with 0.01 A resolution.
Coil resistance measurement: 0–2,000 Ω, with 0.01 Ω resolution.
Adjustable DC output: 6–270 V; output current and duration limits depend on the operating point.
External trigger voltage: 10–300 V AC/DC.
Field operation and records
An embedded industrial computer displays measured data and graphs. Two USB ports support data export and mouse connection. Memory can be expanded to store up to 30,000 datasets. RS232 and Wi-Fi operation are optional.
Documented supply: 220 V AC ±10%.
Dimensions: 400 × 263 × 175 mm (approximately 15.7 × 10.4 × 6.9 in).
Operating temperature: −20 to +50 °C (−4 to +122 °F).
Portable protective case for field and laboratory work.
Application planning
Provide the breaker type, number of contacts, coil ratings, required motion measurements, and site supply when requesting a configuration. HVEX identifies IEC 62271-100 and IEEE C37.09 as relevant application references; define the required test procedures and acceptance criteria for your equipment and project.
