Insulation Resistance Testers — 5 kV
Portable insulation-resistance measurement with test voltages up to 5 kV DC. Atlas Energy supplies the HVEX megohmmeter for commissioning and maintenance of motors, generators, power cables, circuit breakers, transformers, and industrial electrical equipment. The tester applies a selected DC voltage, measures the resulting current, and calculates insulation resistance for display and recording.
Test voltage and measurement range
250 V DC: 0.01 MΩ to 250 GΩ.
500 V DC: 0.01 MΩ to 500 GΩ.
1,000 V DC: 0.01 MΩ to 1 TΩ.
2,500 V DC: 0.01 MΩ to 2.5 TΩ.
5,000 V DC: 0.01 MΩ to 5 TΩ.
Resistance resolution: 0.01 MΩ.
Published short-circuit current: ≥5 mA.
Measurement accuracy depends on the selected voltage and resistance range. At 5 kV, the datasheet specifies ±3% ±5 digits from 0.01 MΩ to 50 GΩ, and ±15% ±5 digits from 50 GΩ to 5 TΩ. Select the test voltage and acceptance criteria for the insulation system under evaluation.
Field operation and data handling
Rechargeable 14.8 V, 2,200 mAh lithium battery.
Approximate charging time: four hours.
Digital display and automatic resistance calculation.
USB interface for transferring stored results to a computer for saving or printing.
Voltage measurement ranges: 0.01–750 V AC and 0.01–1,000 V DC, with published accuracy of ±2% ±3 digits.
Operating conditions
Operating temperature: −10 to +40 °C (14–104 °F).
Operating humidity: below 80%.
Storage temperature: −20 to +60 °C (−4 to +140 °F).
HVEX documentation lists IEC 61010-1, CAT III 300 V / CAT IV 150 V, pollution degree 2, and IEC 61010-031. Voltage measurement ranges do not change these installation-category ratings.
