Request a QuoteAutomatic dielectric-loss and capacitance measurement for insulation assessment. Atlas Energy supplies the HVEX tan delta and capacitance tester for commissioning and maintenance of high-voltage equipment. Measurements support evaluation of insulation aging, moisture, contamination, and changes in dielectric condition when compared with relevant equipment data and test criteria.

Integrated high-voltage source

  • Adjustable internal test voltage: 0.5–12 kV.

  • Maximum internal-source output current: 200 mA.

  • Continuous voltage ramp and 1 V setting resolution.

  • Internal test frequency range: 45–65 Hz, with automatic dual-frequency modes described by HVEX.

  • Internal-source capacitance range at 12 kV: 3–60,000 pF.

  • Internal-source capacitance range at 0.5 kV: 60 pF–1 µF.

Measurement performance

  • Capacitance uncertainty: ±(1% of reading + 1 pF).

  • Tan delta uncertainty: ±(1% of reading + 0.00040).

  • Best published capacitance resolution: 0.001 pF.

  • Typical measurement time: approximately 30 seconds, depending on the method.

  • Digital waveform analysis, bridge self-calibration, and frequency-conversion interference rejection.

External-source configurations

The instrument can be configured with an external high-voltage source and reference capacitor for different test requirements. The datasheet lists external-source capacitance ranges of 3 pF–1.5 µF at 12 kV and 60 pF–30 µF at 0.5 kV. External UST and GST configurations support test currents up to 5 A within the documented connection, frequency, and voltage limits. The internal source remains limited to 200 mA.

Operation and installation

  • Supply: 180–270 V AC, 50/60 Hz ±1%.

  • RS232 communication and built-in micro-printer.

  • Multilevel protection for short-circuit and dielectric-breakdown conditions.

  • Operating temperature: −10 to +50 °C (14–122 °F).

  • Relative humidity: below 90%.

HVEX identifies IEEE C57.152-2013 as an application reference for transformer, reactor, and regulator testing. Provide the equipment type, test voltage, expected capacitance, and connection requirements so Atlas Energy can specify the appropriate HVEX instrument and accessories.
